Likewise, air tightness is the main precondition for ensuring energy-related quality of the building. If the ventilation system is built-in the structure, air leakage test shall ensure proper operation of the system as it does not allow uncontrolled air leaks through the building envelope. It also provides for the optimum use of thermal energy.<br \/>\nTesting air leakage of a building in accordance with the standard EN 13829 is carried out by creating inside the building or its part a negative pressure then overpressure by means of a fan which is temporarily mounted in the doorway. A measuring device detects any air changes in the tested area, while the quantity of air change is detected using measuring equipment. Leakage pathways can be determined and sealed in the testing.
