{"id":1560,"date":"2013-01-04T12:08:57","date_gmt":"2013-01-04T12:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apin.hr\/novec-1230-fire-suppression-system\/opis-sustava\/"},"modified":"2013-09-05T10:34:38","modified_gmt":"2013-09-05T10:34:38","slug":"description","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/apin.hr\/en\/novec-1230-fire-suppression-system\/description\/","title":{"rendered":"Description"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>These systems consist of a line with spray nozzles, a cylinder with associated valve and the control unit of the electronic part of the system.  <\/p>\n<p>Novec 1230 gas is stored as a liquid in cylinders pressurised with nitrogen at 25\/42\/50 bar at 21\u00b0C. Each cylinder at the outlet has associated valve which is furnished with: a manometer, safety membrane, pressure switch (intended to control the pressure in the cylinder), manual actuator and electromagnetic actuator. <\/p>\n<p>In the case of a fire, the system fire alarm signals the fire and activates the electromagnetic actuator which opens the valve on the cylinder containing Novec 1230 gas. When the system is activated, Novec 1230 gas evaporates at the spray nozzles extinguishing the fire in the form of gas.<\/p>\n<p>Due to decomposition of the gas itself at high temperatures developing in a fire, the time of discharge of the gas is a maximum of 10 seconds at 20\u00b0C.<br \/>\nThe minimum hold time of the required concentration of the gas in the protected area in compliance with the standards should be 10 min. This period of time is checked using the door fan test.<\/p>\n<p>During discharge in the protected zone, first a negative pressure occurs (due to a slight cooling of the room), followed by overpressure. In order to ensure the integrity of the protected zone, it is essential to ensure pressure compensation, i.e. to secure the protected zone from damage which could occur in the fire extinguishing process.<\/p>\n<p>Possible arrangements of the Novec 1230 fire suppression system::<br \/>\n<strong>1.\tLocal system (cylinders in the protected zone)<\/strong><br \/>\nThis system is arranged so that the gas cylinder with the pipeline and spray nozzles is located in the protected zone.<br \/>\nAdvantages of the system:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>short lines  <\/li>\n<li>simple design  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shortcomings of the system:\t<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>placement of the cylinder in the protected area (archives, server rooms etc.),<\/li>\n<li>large quantity of the extinguishing agent (if several areas of the similar size are protected),<\/li>\n<li>servicing of the fire suppression system requires service technicians to enter security sensitive areas,<\/li>\n<li>expensive,<\/li>\n<li>surface reduction of valuable and expensive space (cylinders use up highly valuable surface area)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.\tMulti-zone system (cylinders in a separate zone)<br \/>\nThis system is installed so that the battery of cylinders and selector valves is arranged in a separate zone, while the lines are distributed in the direction of and within the protected zones.
